FacilityDirectory.org exists to make public provider data usable. That purpose depends on trust, and trust depends on clear standards. This policy describes how we work.
Accuracy and sourcing
- Every factual claim about a provider comes from a cited public dataset.
- Statistical and regulatory claims in our guides are attributed to a named source such as CMS, Medicare.gov, Medicaid.gov, the VA, the CDC, the Administration for Community Living, the National Institute on Aging, or the relevant regulation.
- Where a figure changes over time, we point readers to the authoritative source rather than publishing an unverified number.
- We do not present estimates as facts.
Independence
No provider pays to appear, to rank higher, or to change its data. Advertising, where present, is separated from editorial content and does not influence which providers are shown or how they are described. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page.
No fabricated content
We do not publish fake reviews, testimonials, identities, credentials, or scarcity signals. We do not invent ratings. CMS ratings are reproduced as published and labeled as CMS data.
Use of automation
We use software to acquire, normalize, and render large public datasets, and we use language tools to help draft and edit guide content. Automated output is reviewed against its sources before publication. Data values are passed through from the source rather than generated.
Corrections
When we make a factual error, we fix it and, for substantive corrections, note what changed. To request a correction, contact us with the page URL and the source that supports the change. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
Updates
We refresh provider data when CMS publishes updates and review guides periodically for accuracy. Pages display a last-updated date where available.
